HISTORY OF FASHION DESIGN . 

The history of fashion design refer specifically to the development of the design and creation of clothing ,shoes and accessories .Today industry ,based around firms and fashion houses sun by individual designers , started in the 19th century with CHARLES FREDERICK WORTH who from 1858 was the first designer to have his lebel sewn into the garment that he created .

Before 19th century the division re mostly made ready to wear  and sold in shops as now .Tailors worked with men in the same way .T he origin of the design was the clothes devised by the most fashionable figures , normally those at court , in the capital ,together with their seamstresses and tailors.Around the start of 20th century fashion magazine began to include photographs and became even more influential .Throughout the world these magazine were greatly sought-after and had a profound effect on public taste.Talented illustrators-among them Paul Iribe ,Georges Lepape ,Erte and George Barbier - drew attractive fashion plates for these publications ,which covered the most recent development in fashion and beauty.  

GOLDEN AGE OF FRENCH FASHION.                               

The period between the two world wars often considered to the Gloden Age French fashion , was on of  great change and reformation .Haute couture found new client in the ranks of film actresses and the wives and daughters of wealthy industrialists.
  •  Bouffant Coiffures gave short bobs , dresses with long trains gave way to above -the-knee pinafores .
  • Although ,at first many countries were reluctant to adopt the new androgynous style , they embraced them wholeheartedly from around 1925.
  • The flapper style (known to the French as the ,garcon look)became very popular among young women .
  • The cloche hat was widely worn and sportswear became popular with both men and women during the decade ,with designers like Jean Patou and Coco Chanel popularizing the sporty and athletic look.
  • The great couturier Coco Chanel was major figure in fashion at the time ,as much for her magnetic personality as her chic and progressive designs .
  • Two others prominent French designers of the 1920s were Jeanne Lanvin and Jean Patou .Who began her career in fashion as a milliner , made such beautiful outfits for her young daughter Marguerite that people started to ask for copies ,and lanvin was soon making dresses for their mothers.
